About me

Hello, My name is Jolie and I am a grade 12 at Dr. Charles Best Secondary School. This is my first year in the school and first two months in the country. I am Egyptian but I was born and raised all my life in Dubai. In school, I love science related subjects, especially Chemistry and Biology. I also really enjoyed taking Geography in my previous school as I got to learn to appreciate the differences and similarities between various cultures and to dive into a sense of environmental responsibility and understanding the Earth’s fragility and the need for sustainable practices, which was one of the key reasons that brought me to the Butterfly Effect! The opportunity to learn about pressing societal issues really interests me and  I hope to contribute positively to our community here and the world at large.

Aside from school, I enjoy watching soccer games with my family and playing it at times. I love to draw, sketch and paint when I get the chance to. In my free time, I like to spend time with my family and cook with my mother, we usually go out in the weekends to new places as well. I enjoy music, no specific genre just whatever song I like, Arabic songs are great as well, some songs have beautiful meanings. I have a curious mind and love myself an adventure! I have traveled to over 15 countries ranging from Europe to Africa and love visiting the museums there and immersing myself in their local traditions and cultures. One of my goals and dream in the future is to keep adding onto my list and travel the world when I get the opportunity to.

If I were to have any job right now, I would be a flight attendant, I guess this relates to my passion of travelling and exploring different cities and countries, it would really interest me as I would be able to interact with people from all over the world, and learn about their stories and languages. However, I am considering studying environmental engineering for my post-secondary studies and pursuing my career into that direction.

Thank you for everybody who read my post, I am looking forward to meeting you guys and learning all together!
