Blog #1: why/how has cars evolved over time?

Hello everyone! My name is Dara Casillas Mora and welcome to my first blog post. My inquiry question is “why/how has cars evolved over time”? I hope to learn and teach others more about cars this semester. It is amazing how cars have changed over the years. For many cars are just type of transportation but cars are not just that, now they can be customized to everyone’s liking, I find this fascinating and how before it was very different.

This topic interest me because I wonder what the future will hold about cars. Growing up I remember wondering how car were made and how they would run with just gasoline. I would also help my dad when he was fixing our car and he would teach me all about cars. Since then, I have always wanted to learn more about the engineering process cars go though. Recently electric cars have been a big hit and I still wounder what the next car will look like. I have found that cars before the 2000s were more fancy or more elegant vs now car are sportier which the concept has changed a lot.

I am really excited to do more research and find out more about cars. I hope that after reading my blog post this fascinates you and would like to read my future blogs.

  1. Hello Dara,

I like how you have a personal connection to your topic, showing your genuine interest. I think you should consider breaking down the evolution of cars into specific time periods, innovations, or technological advancements to help structure your research a bit more. Climate change is a concern as well with cars so try exploring the environmental and societal impacts of the evolving car industry, in addition to the technological aspects. 2. Hello Dara,

This is an amazing post with a lot of aspiration to learn what elements in a car have changed throughout the decades and to predict what will be trending in the future. I have wondered too, what other materials people would add to cars to make them more environment friendly, faster, and to make them look better. My suggestion that I think would help you with your research on the evolution of cars is to look into the trending car companies of each decade (from 1900 to 2020, etc.) and research why, and how they became top-selling. You can compare the differences of trending companies from different decades to see what materials were used in making cars. Here are some useful websites that could help you:

  3. Hi Dara!
I love your topic so much! its honestly so fascinating how cars from the 60s and before have such beautiful craftsmanship in forms of the interior and exterior, however, recently it seems like a “sleek” and minimalistic look has been the trend for a long time. Although I don’t mind the said minimalistic look, I do love how older cars have a certain character which modern cars just don’t. In addition, although I wish I was able to work on a car myself, I used to love watching top gear with my dad and judging some of the most interesting cars ever seen. To add to this, I love the path you are taking with this topic, in fact if you’re interested in these topics I 100% recommend watching some of the top gear cuts where they compare older models and newer models of the same car, including their interior, exterior, performance, etc.
