Blog Post #1 – Story Project

This semester, I am doing a story project. I had no idea what I wanted my story to be about before I did the brainstorming. I set a timer for five minutes with a blank piece of paper in front of me and started to brainstorm what my story could be about. At first, my mind went blank and I couldn’t think of anything. However, after about five seconds, ideas began to pop into my head.

I wanted to write a story that many people in this class can relate to, because some of us are nearing the end of our high school journey. Therefore, I am going to write a story about a teenage girl who has trouble transitioning from living with her parents in high school to moving out and living by herself in university. I think the main character’s name will be Charlotte. The main plot is that Charlotte had always been a spoiled girl growing up and she got everything she wanted. However, after she moved out into her own apartment, her chores began piling up and her apartment become very messy.

I think that this story will teach people that life is not that easy and you have to work hard to live a nice and fulfilling life. The main character in my story will eventually realize that she will get nowhere in life laying in bed and doing nothing. The moral of this story will be: nothing is just handed to you; you have to work hard to earn it.
