Blog Post 7- Metamorphosis

Hello everyone, this is going to be the last blog post of the school year here in Canada and I will be reflecting upon my work throughout the semester. I have had lot’s of fun learning about new topics alongside many wonderful students and reading their Blog Posts. Thanks for everyones help when writting comments and following along with my Blog Posts. To wrap it all up, here’s my Metamorphosis:

1. What challenges did you overcome throughout this inquiry project? How did you go about overcoming these challenges?

Throughout this inquiry I overcame a few challenges, some easier than others. The first porblem I ran into was when planning out my sub-questions for my big Inquiry questions. I wanted to create questions that weren’t repetitive, that were relatable to the audience in order for both the reader and I to better understand what’s going on and finally questions that answered my big inquiry question well. I managed to turn to Google, on the hunt for information about my inquiry question in order to see if I can find any information that can be written as a quetion, this worked well, but I also asked my parents for help coming up with one more and they guided me into making my sub-questions as strong and informative as they are. Another problem I ran inot was during my Blog Post #5 – Research Round 3. That Inquiry question was hard to research for since many of the websites I was looking at seemed to be repetitive or misunderstanding what I was putting into the search bar. But, by trying to re-word the questions I was searching up and looking at multiple different resources and images, I managed to put together enough information to properly wrap up my research and get enough solid information to be able to put together into a blog post. Those are some of the challenges I overcame throughout this inquiry project and how I overcame them.

2. How did this inquiry change the way you think?

This Inquiry changed the way I think because before researching about the impact of technology on humans, I think I was for the most part, unaware of lot’s of things that it can imoact negatively. I used to believe that it all depends on how the user is handling the technology which is, in some cases, untrue. There are things done through technology that make us hooked to it and that impact our mental health. Before I used to believe that it is only up to social media influencers or celebrities to make a difference in how we use technology to try and make it less toxic, but through research, I have realized that it’s also up to us average people to use social media for the better and not feed into the negative aspects. If we realize how great our impact is, we should be able to make social media better for everyone.

3. How did this investigation impact your future decisions?

This investigation impacted my future decisions because now I will be more cautious of how much time I’m spending using technology and what I am using it for. I will realize what negative thoughts I might have towards myslef and try to change that. I will also be more cautious of who I follow on social media since I don’t want to be positively imoacting influencers who have negative social media pages and/or cause drama.

4. What impact will this investigation have on others locally and/or globally?

This investigation will impact society both locally and globally. It will impact others locally by raising awareness at our school to stop cyberbullying and also to stop using technology to bring people down/make them feel bad about themselves and instead use technolgy for the best to try and lift each other up and create new connections. Globally, this research can lower the tolls of depression, anxiety and other mental health problems when we take proper action. It will also positively impact teenagers mental health and make them happier. It can also help teens around the world bring each other up and know that we’re all here for each other through the journey of adolescence and that we don’t have to go through it alone. Meaning that this reseacrh can last but not least, create the feeling of togetherness when action is taken and avoid the feeling of isolation or being alone.

Thank you for this awesome journey of learning,

Perla Halime 🙂
