a. What challenges did you overcome throughout this story project? How did you go about overcoming these challenges?
A challenge I had was logic. For Kaya’s little flashback about Jun, I knew that Jun used an underhand tactic to get the gift that Kaya had given him, and which he re-gifted to her back. I also knew that Kaya was angry about Jun’s actions. However, it took me some time and introspection to realize why Kaya was angry. Eventually, after deep thinking, I realized that it was because Kaya thought they were good friends, so to have Jun basically lie his way into getting the gift back make Kaya feel deeply insecure; did he not trust her to straight-up give it back if he asked? Did he think Kaya was too stingy and irrational to reason with?
b. How did writing and researching this story change the way you think?
This story is a real example of accepting what one cannot change and accept that some things are a package deal. For example, though Hyuck’s decision disappointed Kaya, she had to accept it because she knew there was a possibility it might happen due to her giving Hyuck the option. Kaya could have just told Hyuck she wanted him to re-gift her one of the keychains, but she didn’t because she wanted to see what he would do without her influence. Thus, Kaya got her honest answer, and even though she doesn’t like it, it doesn’t change the results, which have no fate but to be accepted.
c. What impact will this story have on others locally and/or globally?
I hope that whoever reads this will carry on my insights and learn what I did. I’m just one little writer, but if my insights and thoughts reach even just one person, that will be enough.
