Research Round #3: Two Large Impacts of Climate Change

In my second round of research ,it was all about the overview  of the impacts of climate change . In my third round of  research  I will talk about two impacts that I think are the biggest, in more detail; the impacts on agriculture and heat waves.

Agriculture

Climate change causes a decrease in crop yields and decrease in livestock productivity(1). Agriculture is vulnerable, hence greatly affected by climate change(1). On farms climate change is reducing  crop yields and  the nutritional quality of major cereals(1).Climate change negative effects are being felt example; increased temperatures that cause the drying up of crops. One of the direct impacts of climate change is increased precipitation which will destroy the crops in the farm(2). Changes in temperature will alter with farming. The current prediction is that temperatures will increase and rainfall will decrease(2).With increasing global temperatures the possibility of more droughts and increased intensity of storms will likely to occur. As more of water is evaporated the more precipitation is high which leads to floods that will destroy the crops in the garden.

Heat Waves

Warming of climate can cause an increase in heat waves by increasing the chances of hot days and nights. Heat waves occur  when there is high pressure in the atmosphere that forces air downward and traps it near the ground. The high pressure acts like a knock that prevents the air from rising(3).The high pressure can also result from a heat dome ,exacerbating  the heat waves(3).A heat dome is created when an area of high pressure stays  in that area for several days trapping very warm air underneath. The dome traps  air that would otherwise rise and cool before circulating back to the surface, resulting into the continual build up of heat and reducing chances of precipitation(3).Heat waves extreme weather events ,but research shows that these events are likely to occur due to climate change. Its likely to occur now than before due to the industrial revolutions because of high concentration  of carbon dioxide(greenhouse gases) in the atmosphere (4).

  1. Thanks for sharing your research on the impacts of climate change, and specifically focusing on agriculture and heat waves. Your effort in showing this off is very respectable, and good on you for using actually relevant sources which in the future you should emphasize more to enhance the credibility of your post.

And also, I would like to make note of your use of images and the way that they are used. I like the fact that you at least added 1 but in the future, you should use more images, and visual aids in general later on to make your posts more easily readable and add personality. Additionally to this, ensure that your writing is clear and concise for better readability for example, make sure you have the same amount of spacing between words consistantly.

I would also like to add on to how you used your citations, the way you used credible and revered sources and I also like how you numbered and referenced them in the post however, actually implementing them as quotes “sentence/image/visualization” – ‘source’ makes them could give your projects more impact or feel more consice overall.

And lastly, a quick and easy thing that you could try to use in the future is a quick spell check from a website to make sure that speakers from different cultures with different slangs or definitions for words can understand your posts with more clarity but I am quite impressed with what you were able to get across to your viewer in your blog.

Overall, your blog post is a valuable contribution to raising awareness about the critical issues of climate change. Keep up the good work
