Project plan:
The three main questions I will research on is:
- What are society’s standards (beauty, personality, marriage, etc…)?
There are many standards society set. Standards that are made for people to follow. Some of these standards can be extreme and cause stress to people who are not able to achieve these standards. Often, people who are not able to fit into these standards, are judged and seen as less of a value. This question will lead me into forming an opinion on whether I think society’s standards are something I want to follow. - Why are we pressured to fit into these standards?
Are these standards made for greatness? People are always so eager to fit certain standards, sometimes it can be obsessive. There are some standards I want to follow like having a fashionable closet. I see myself always online shopping and stressing out because I feel that I do not dress well enough. It is a toxic obsession and I wish I did not care about the way I dress. Researching this question may be the solution to end some of my obsessions by trying to buy the same products as pretty influencers in hope of achieving something they have that I do not. - Are society’s standards advantageous for us?
Maybe standards are set for the best of us. Maybe following the standards can be advantageous. Most of society’s standards are hard to achieve, so maybe we should try following them. This question will lead me to be able to answer why we try and follow society’s standards all the time.

My research on this question will have implications for other individuals and/or my community. The answer to this inquiry question may help all those who struggle with being confident. My research can help individuals as well as myself stay confident without having to change ourselves. We try and fit into society’s standards to become our best selves, but sometimes it can lead to toxic obsessions. To prevent those obsessions, I hope my research can help.
Thank you for reading.
Hello Kiara,
This is a nice post you have. I really like it because this is what I as a teenager always feel. I sometimes feel that I need to have something that is so trendy. It really is an obsession and I’ve seen many of my friends getting affected by it. So thank you for teaching me that I need not to follow the standards that society sets for me if they are not worth it. I look forward to reading more of your other posts and also good luck on your next post.
