Blog #7: Reflection

  • What challenges did you overcome throughout this inquiry project? How did you go about overcoming these challenges?

I had planned to write about the impact of gender discrimination/roles on immigrants, but did not find enough information to make a whole blog post on it. Therefore, I chose another topic that I found interesting to analyse, which was literature and female authors. I ended up writing the whole blog post on it, and not about immigration.

  • How did this inquiry change the way you think?

Researching about how gender roles and discrimination affect our society increased my awareness of its impact on individuals that are part of minority groups, such as lgbt women, and in society as a whole. It broadened my perspective on how gender roles and discrimination are still very present and harmful in my society.

  •  How did this investigation impact your future decisions?

One of the impacts this investigation had on me is that it made me be more conscious of my own biases, and encouraged me to work to challenge them. For example, because I’m going to study sociology after I graduate high school, investigating these issues made me think about taking some courses of women’s studies, or even minoring in it.

  • What impact will this investigation have on others locally and/or globally?

I tried explaining concepts in a way that is easier to understand, and that made the readers interested in the subject. Therefore,  this investigation made them more aware of these issues, and hopefully, it encouraged them to challenge their own biases or other’s as well.
