My Inquiry Question for rhis semester is: How has technology impacted how we view ourselves and others?
I chose this inquiry question because as I was conducting my research for my previous Inquiry Question from last semester, I stumbled upon a few websites explaining how technology impacts our health and I found it really interesting.
I also found that technology is everywhere in the world, working day and night, used by the young and old, which is why I wanted to see how it impacts how we view oursleves and others because it has such a big role in our lives. Social Meia is also another factor as to why I chose this as my inquiry because we see influencers all the time posting pictures and videos of their lives or even reviewing products, which can impact the viewer positively or negatively. I like researching things that have an impact on humans, but also researching something that can be resolved and avoided which is another reason why I chose this Inquiry Question.
I can’t wait to learn more about this topic through research and write about it.

Hey Perla, this is a really cool inquiry question. I have asked myself this very question many times before, so much in fact that I did a very similar project of my own a couple of years back on how social media affects society. As someone who uses social media far more than I’d like to, I understand how the manipulative, addicting mechanics of these applications can get people hooked, spending hours scrolling through content. And even though social media may be marketed as a way to broadcast your life to your friends, it is in no way realistic. As has been pointed out many times, social media gives people false ideas on how other people’s lives are truly going, as posts on social media are often exclusively fun, exciting, and/or happy moments. Rarely do we ever see the full reality of someone’s life, their ups and downs. And this strange, vicious circle plays out over and over. One person will doom-scroll on social media, feeling bored or unfulfilled, and as they do all they will see are others having the time of their lives. Social media has warped our expectations for life. Can’t wait for your next post!
