Blog Post #2 – Project Plan

Inquiry Question : How does our mental health impact our physical health?

My three steps to research include:

1.How is our mental health related to our physical health? What link can we make between these two very relevant topics?

When researching this question, I can collect general data on my inquiry question as well as gain a base of information for me to work off of further into my research, which will initially help me include more detail in my answers. By reseaching both our mental and physical health’s similarities, I will be able to make a connection between the two similar topics to make it easier to understand further into my research.

2.Why do we see a change in people’s body language when they are stressed or anxious? Why is it so hard to hide it.

By answering this question, I will be able to gain more information on our mental health and find out what causes these reactions so that when I move forward, I will know about the short term effects of poor mental health therefore making the long term effects more clear and comprehensive later on in my research. Answering this question will also help us find out if our body language is linked to our physical health.

3.Can poor mental health result in physical diseases? Can too much stress be the cause of getting physically sick at a younger age?

The answers to this question will more or less answer my intial inquiry question and it would be suported by statistics (age, severity, etc) and by the information gathered by the previously answered questions. Are there any specific diseases that can potentially be caused by poor mental health? How can we see the signs of our physical health being affected by our mental health ? Those are a few questions that would be answered while researching about how porr mental health may cause physical diseases.

Five sources that will help me adress the question:

By unlocking these factors, this can help people struggling with poor mental health get better, faster and seek the help they need based off of knowledge of it’s long term effects. This questions will also have inplications on our community becasue of how much more mental health is being talked about these days and because of this generations exposure to social media and how that can play a role in poor mental health. Our society is becomin much more prone to the effects of poor mental health because of a lot of factors and knowing it’s effects can help us prevent our mental health from taking over our physical health.

  2. Hi Perla,

I loved how you stated that you will support your 3rd question with statistics. Doing this will help me understand your project deeper because of the visuals. Some questions I have are: How can we stop our mental health from damaging our physical health? Why is it so hard to fix it? Can our physical health impact our mental health too?
