Blog #2: Project plan

The inquiry question I picked for my semester 2 project is “Why are dreams so hard to remember?” I chose this topic because I found it fascinating and wanted to learn more about why dreams are so hard to remember.

The 3 mini questions I picked for my inquiry project are:

  1. What makes dreams so realistic?
  2. What makes us remember some and forget others?
  3. What can we do to remember dreams?

1.ย  What makes dreams so realistic?

Finding an answer to what makes dreams realistic is not only interesting but will help with if thats what makes them hard to remember. An inference I have is dreams that are realistic are possibly easier to remember than ones that aren’t.

2. What makes us remember some dreams and forget others?

Understanding why some dreams are easier to remember than others will help us get to the conclusion of why some are harder to remember than others. This question in my opinion will be one of the most important ones to answer.

3. What can we do to remember dreams?

Once again, this is a question that will be interesting to answer because sometimes I wish I remembered all my dreams. It will also help in finding out what we can do to remember our dreams.

How finding an answer to this question will have implications to other individuals and/or my community:

This is a question that interests many people I know and is something people would want an answer to. Just from my first blog post, there were so many people who commented saying how they would love to know more about this topic because of how it affects really anyone out there. When I joined Social Responsibility, I wanted to research on topics that interest me and this for sure is one of them ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Hello Anannya,

I agree that this question is interesting to many people. I think it would be an enjoyable subject to look into. The sub-questions look good, but I would change the first one a little. The last two questions relate to remembering dreams directly while the first one takes some explaining. I saw in your explanation of the first sub-question, that you wanted to ask what makes dreams realistic because of your inference that realistic dreams are more memorable than others. Because you have a good reason, I think you should just rephrase it to say are realistic dreams easier to remember than fantastical ones. In addition, a great place to start for your second sub-question, is at what part of the sleep do you dream. Basically, we remeber dreams more when they occur closer to the end of our sleep. Or if you wake up in the middle of the night and happen to be dreaming, it will be easier to remember.

  3. Hey Anannya!
As soon as I saw your inquiry question, I was happy and glad that somebody came up with a question that I really wanted to learn more about, but didn’t have any time to do research. I love how your blog steps are well organized and interesting to follow along. Including a brief information about what the point of dreaming would be far more enjoyable to read even though it’s good enough. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Good luck with your future blogs!!
