Reflection

  1. What challenges did you overcome throughout this inquiry project? How did you go about overcoming these challenges?

The challenges I faced throughout my project were regarding finding and understanding the information for my research and communicating it in an easier way for people to understand. At the beginning I found it hard to find reliable information on my topic that was not too biased. I thought that my project would end up being biased too. I solved this problem by combining articles with different points of views. In addition, some of the articles I found were every academic or used specific terminology that I did not understand. I had to research beyond those articles to understand them.  Finally, I faced challenges when trying to make my research easy to understand. I tried to use more simple terminology or gave simpler explanations of concepts.

  1. How did this inquiry change the way you think?

It changed my perspective on the topic. I used to believe that gender was 100% a social construct. However, I learned that biology can also play a role in it. Now, I think that gender is a combination of both biology factors and society.

  1. How did this investigation impact your future decisions?

I learned that to further understand a topic, I have to listen to both sides of the conversation. From now on, I will try to apply this.

  1. What impact will this investigation have on others locally and/or globally?

I think that the global and local impact of my research is similar. It will increase our knowledge on the topic. I think that the conversation about gender is heard a lot today, but people tend to not stop and think about it. My research gives facts about gender development and opinions from both sides of the debate. This will allow people to reflect on gender, while also making sure that the information they are using as reference are accurate. This knowledge can also be used to dismantle harmful stereotypes.
