Blog post #2 (project plan) – “Does money bring happiness?

Hi Guys!! πŸ™‚ See the source image

So as you are aware of the reason why I chose to do research on one of the most asked questions “Does money bring happiness?”. Well in this post I will be breaking down my inquiry research step by step and give you guys some more insights into the parts that I will focus on πŸ™‚

For this research project, I’ve decided to break it down into three main steps:

Β  Β 1. The importance of money (in life & in general, the pros and cons, etc…)

My first section will be about the importance of money (now of course many of you already know some of the importance, but I will try my hardest to not make them so obvious). I chose this because I believe that we all have a good understanding of money, but I also think that there’s more to money in life and in general. And so I decided to look into the pros and cons “money” has, not just in life, but in general. I will try to do research from as many perspectives as possible. See the source image

Β  Β 2. What is happiness? And what are different perspectives of happiness?Β

My second part of the research will be about the different aspects of happiness as well as the different perspectives of how happiness is pursued by others. Since we are aware that everyone has various opinions, interpretations and meanings to things in life because we are all different and unique from each other; therefore I thought that learning about what happiness really consists of and how others interpret happiness will lead to an answer to my main question.

  1. comparison between the lives of the rich & the poor

My third section will be a comparison between the lives of the rich and the poor. I will be doing thorough research about the different lifestyles. I am doing a comparison because when most people talk about money it usually brings this image of the other countries, family or individuals who are rich and poor and since my question is whether “money brings happiness” I thought if I take the upper class and lower class in consideration, I would come to a thorough answer to my question.

  1. Dear Lokshana,

I greatly am intrigued by your project plan for 2 reasons. You not only explain your topic (i.e. how money helps us in the general sense), but also take us readers through a comparison between the lives of the rich and the poor.

I am looking forward to your first round of research, and I would like to I ask two questions too!

    1. Which region, country, or continent will you be focusing on the rich/poor? North America specifically, or all over (on the global scale).

    2. Thank you for the resources at the bottom! Do you personally think money brings happiness?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Warmest Regards,

    Galicia.

    1. Hi Galicia,
thank you for your questions and feedback! Firstly, for the comparison of the rich and the poor, I was thinking of having an overall focus so not only focusing on one specific region, country or continent. Although, I might use some countries as examples.

Secondly, my opinion about money and happiness is slightly different, essentially because I have a different perspective on happiness. therefore, I believe that money is not a complete form of happiness?

How about you? Do you think money brings happiness?

  2. Hey Lokshana!
This all sounds very interesting, and I really look forward to your future posts. Personally, I think money does bring happiness. The elimination of financial anxiety leaves no room for stress when it comes to grocery shopping, eating out, paying your rent etc. Having such security can be beneficial to one’s mental health, therefore making them happier. They can spend money on whatever, whenever.
    What do you think?
Look forward to your research. Good luck
    xx

    1. Hi Ronnie,
Thank you for your perspective and feedback!
You’ve made some very interesting points and I do somewhat agree with you, but as I started to put more thought into it, I started to have different opinions about it.
However, stay tuned for the following posts πŸ™‚
