About me- Shieva Mokhtarnameh

Hello everyone!

My name is Shieva Mokhtarnameh. I am 16 years old and I go to Dr. Charles Best Secondary School. My favourite subject is art.

One thing about me that might surprise others is that I am an art teacher at a studio in Port Moody. I like my job and I have been working there for three years now. My passion is art. I really like creating things. For the most part, I make oil paintings, but I also draw, knit, sew (not very well), and play the piano. My strongest attribute would have to be determination. Yes, sometimes life can be difficult. I have a lot of things that I could mope about right now that are good excuses to stop trying, but I don’t. I keep going because I don’t want my circumstances to define what I can accomplish in this life.

If I could have any job right now it would be something that combines art and science. I’m not exactly sure what that would be and if I don’t find it I might settle for just science and maybe art on the side but a dream job would include those two things. It would also have to be a job where I create instead of follow.

This is a oil painting I did about 2 weeks ago.

This is a finger painting that I’m still working on.

Lastly, here is another oil painting!

Thank you for reading!

  1. Hi Shieva,

Wow these are amazing paintings. The first painting almost looks like it pops out of the canvas, and I can’t wait to see what the finger painting will look like. Art is also one of my favourite subjects, I just recently bought a huge canvas but I am not sure what to do it it yet.

    1. Thank you! That first painting was really experimental. I had never made something like it before so I’m glad you like it. I think the biggest canvas I’ve worked on is a tad bigger than the second painting that I attached here. Something I’ve been meaning to try (and could be cool on a big canvas) is using a load of modeling paste and creating a bunch of texture and then working around what texture is created. That would work well with a big canvas because it allows you to create all sorts of things instead of one or two on a small canvas!

  2. Hey! I think that it is pretty awesome that you’re a teacher in a studio in Port Moody! I absolutely think your paintings are great and have a variety of colour! 🙂

  3. Hi Shieva,

I am really amazed by the number of talents that you have. The combined effort that you show to make sure that your work is done is greatly sensational. The greatest percentage of people out there do not even know what they are best in. its amazing how you combine your efforts to bring the best out of you. I loved all of your paintings they look so pretty. I also draw just for leisure and pass time. Maybe the question I would to ask is how you do you divide your time to make sure that all your work is done? I mean how do you make sure that you have painted, drawn, played the piano, knit and even sew?

    1. I’m happy you liked my paintings! To answer your question, I aim to do at least one creative thing a day. So maybe one day I paint and the next I play the piano. If I really don’t have time for anything fun in the day, it’s sad, but I just look forward to doing something the next day. What about you; What do you like to draw?
