What is peace?

There are many different definitions of peace. Peace can be described as Peace is when people are able to resolve their conflicts without violence and can work together to improve the quality of their lives. In a social sense, peace is commonly used to mean a lack of conflict (such as war) and freedom from fear of violence between individuals or groups. (1)

How can we as a society promote peace?

When researching this question I found a lot of small experiences that promote peace like introducing yourself to new people, visiting new places, become more involved with your community. Getting to know individuals from many different backgrounds and walks of life within your community may give you a new perspective on the problems facing your community. (3)(4)

How can we as individuals promote peace?

I found that in my research a large part of promoting peace is finding inner peace. But how do we do that? A daily practice of appreciating nature is one of the most beneficial activities you can do to increase happiness and reduce stress says licensed clinical psychologist and corporate trainer, Robert Puff. A main factor that brings peace and quietude is a calm mind. The main thing you need to do is to find how to reduce the number of meaningless thoughts and worries that pass through your mind. (5)(6)

What are the pros of our criminal justice system?

Our criminal justice system is not all flawed, it does promote law and order as well as right to due process, impartial judiciary, innocent until proven guilty and much more. The existence of any society relies on citizens’ ability to both define the parameters of acceptable social behavior and to ensure adherence to the social contract by establishing consequences that punish violations. The judicial role is to hear both sides of a criminal case, taking into consideration all aspects unbiasedly creating fairness. (7)(8)

What can our criminal justice system do to improve?

After research I found there are many things our society could do to help the criminal justice system improve liking using “Hybrid Clouds” and technology to increase security, this could help reduce some of the fears and anxiety about security and encryption and allow us to securely access data from anywhere at any time. Other things would be employ blockchain as chain of custody record, enabling judges presiding over cases to obtain a protected record. (9) Things like implement basic machine learning could reduce the time legal teams spend on these tasks and learning to recognize the influence of socially sanctioned hatred can also help. Making drugs a public health problem is very controversial but 61 percent of federal prison inmates are there for drug offenses, as a result, we wouldn’t need to build new prisons. As well as helping separate violent and nonviolent offenders which can allow for transformation, not merely rehabilitation. (10)(11)
