Hi everyone

If you are new here, my action is selling baked goods in order to raise money for the BCSPCA. So far, I have baked and sold 20 cookies for my dad’s colleagues at UBC, charging fifty cents per cookie and I baked and sold another 20 cookies to my mom who would give them out to her clients at ProActive Pilates. In my opinion, this is some really great progress, twenty dollars is a third of my goal!
A success I had while baking this second batch was that I used another new recipe. Even though cookies are tasty sometimes people can’t always snack on them because of the high sugar content. There can be many different reasons for that, sometimes due to diets, medical conditions, and maybe they just don’t love sweets. This is why for my second batch of cookies I used maple syrup as a sweetener in place of syrup. That hopefully made some people feel more inclined to try them.

Despite what it may seem like, this was not an entirely positive experience. I had a massive roadblock, the cookies were supposed to go to my dad’s work again at UBC. However, he completely forgot and I was left panicking the morning of. Thankfully my mom stepped in to help me out. We decided that since my father had not brought the cookies with him, my mom might as well give them to her clients. She bought them from me for fifty cents a piece and distributed them throughout the day. Next time, I will constantly remind my dad to bring the cookies with him or I might just put them in his car the night before. All in all, I feel much better knowing if all goes wrong I can fall back on my mom to help me out.

My next move will be a new dessert whether that’s rice crispy bars, brownies, or cupcakes. I have done cookies twice now so it is time for a change. I don’t want people to get bored of the same things so hopefully by switching some things up they will stay interesting. This is something that I know a lot of bakeries and coffee shops do to keep customers on their toes. I plan to spend the weekend proofing recipes and tweaking them until I achieve my desired result. I’m looking forward to it.
