Blog Post #1 Action Post: Values Activity & Aligning this with Global Millennium Goals

Hello everyone, through the values activity, I found my 3 most important values are Reliablity, Compassion, and Leadership, and my 3 least important values to be Pleasure, Power, and Competence.
While I do not disagree with the results of the activity, as it is a rather accurate depiction of my individual identity and my values, I feel that it is too limited, and does not encompass the most accurate descriptions of the most important values in my life. I believe it would be better if it had included values like respect, rigor, or vitality, as they are both important values and are very important in our lives.

Can you describe a situation where you put into action one or more of the values most important to you? What was the result?

Just yesterday, I was at the CAHSMUN conference as the head delegate, leading near 12 delegates from my school in the downtown Sheraton hotel. At 10PM, Saturday, after a long day of diplomatic debate and tireless debate, I was getting ready to go to bed when I was made aware that one of my delegates had blisters on their foot from their heels. Though they acted with bravery and didn’t make much of the blister, I still went over to their room with my first-aid kit. After identifying the blister and some broken skin, I helped them sanitize the wound with iodine and put band-aids on top to help soothe the pain and prevent more blisters from forming, leaving few extra band-aids for them to change in case some do fall out. Even though I was tired from 12+ hours of debate, leading the delegates for food and committees, and dealing with uncounted number of crisises, I still went over to their room to deal with their small blister. I believe this demonstrates my reliability, compassion and leadership, while it also demonstrates my disregard of my own pleasure, and power.

4.) Research United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
a) Which one aligns with your values most?

Goal number 16 of peace, justice, and strong institutions most aligns with my values.
b) Which one is your passion Why? (This may or may be the same as (a))

My passion is to accomplish goal number 16 of embracing peace, justice and strong institutions, while maintaining goal number 10 in the process. To make diplomacy and public speaking more readily available for everyone equally, through personalized programs and events to help everyone realize their dream of a better future, and the promise of not leaving anyone behind in the past.
c) Give one specific action you would like to apply to address this goal. If you are not sure of an action yet, list 2-3 possible actions you might like to start.

Hosting little MUN conferences every Thursday after school, and to bring delegates from our school to conferences everywhere!
