Blog post 2: What is the correlation between economic and military strength.

To answer my topic question, I will be breaking the question, what is the correlation between economic and military strength into three sub-questions. The first question will be “What is military strength?” This question will help me gain insight as to how to measure and determine what military strength. The second sub-question I will use to help answer my topic sentence is” What is considered economic power and how is it measured?” This question would help me answer the economic section of my question. I could answer this question through considering various statistics in which an economy’s health is judged upon such as GDP (gross domestic product). My third and final sub-question is” What is the correlation between economic and military strength?” To sufficiently answer such a question, I plan to do a case study on a specific country such as the USA to further increase my insight on its military and economy.

For my sources I wanted information that was trustable, accurate and digestible. One such source is the Oxford research encyclopedia, the Oxford research encyclopedia is a encyclopedia funded by the Oxford University Press. All information contained is written and fact checked by experts well versed on the subject.

My second source is going to be Wikipedia. Wikipedia has an extensive database of articles involving military weapons and tactics, the site also has detailed information about economics. Although trust in the validity of the information present in Wikipedia articles has degraded, Wikipedia is still an amazing source of information.

For my third source I wanted to choose a website which contains extensive information regarding the management of a military. Eventually I ended up with a website by the name of MilitarySphere. Militarysphere is a website dedicated to providing trusted and detailed information about the military. Most of the editors on MilitarySphere are experts, and all information should be trustworthy.

I chose Encyclopedia Britannica | Britannica as my fourth source. Brittanica is like Wikipedia expect only experts and trusted individuals are allowed to edit and post articles, because of this commitment to ensure information is trusted, Brittanica is a good source.

For my final source I am choosing is Investopedia. To help answer my question I needed a website dedicated to providing trusted information about the economy. I decided to use Investopedia due to my past use of it on my previous research project. Articles present on the site are also written by experts and fact checked.

The implications of my research question “What is the correlation between economic and military strength?” can impact individuals seeking to understand how a country’s economy can affect its military power. Another implication my question have is towards those seeking knowledge about the correlation between a countries military and its economy. The information gathered from my research would help those in my community understand why the military is the way it is.
