ABOUT ME: James Kinyua

Hey, my name is James, and I am seventeen years old. I come from Kenya, specifically, Laikipia County, and our home is located in a village called Chuma. I come from a family of five, and I am the last born. I study at Thome Boys Secondary School, which is my favorite school because it provides a conducive environment for learning. My favorite subjects are History and Business Studies. One of my goals in life is to get a B+ in the national KCSE exams so that I can pursue my career.

My passion is to become a lawyer so that I can assist individuals in having equal rights. The main reason I joined the Butterfly Effect Program is to gain knowledge by exchanging thoughts with others and learning from each other.

In our Kikuyu community, some of our traditional foods include Githeri, Mukimo, Yams, and Cassava. We consider these to be delicious meals. Lastly, our traditional values emphasize respect, obedience, and integrity—being honest and doing the right thing, even when no one is watching..

To me, the word “community” means a united group of people who assist each other. When people are united, they help each other in times of danger, ensuring that no one is left behind. If I had a job as a lawyer right now, I would assist members of our community and others who have had their land grabbed. By doing this, I would help people and also earn an income.?

One of my heroes in life is Central Cee, the drill artist from the United Kingdom. He didn’t give up despite coming from a humble background. I have learned a lot from him, and he gives me the motivation to think, “Why not me?

My expectations and hopes in life are to become a lawyer. The main reason is to elevate my family to a better level in life, be a benefit to our community, and contribute to our country. Besides being a lawyer, I want to be a successful man in life and live a peaceful and fulfilling life. I believe that one day I will visit the United Kingdom, which is my favorite country. Not only is it my favorite country, but I would also like to live there as a citizen.

Lastly, I would like to welcome all of you to exchange thoughts and aspirations. You are all welcome!
