blog post one action: environmental education

After completing the values activity my results where my three most important values where recognition, reliability and power my least important where Equality, responsibility and courage. I somewhat agree with most of these values, I don’t feel like the least important values entirely represented me accurately. For example, I do think equality is important in the sense that everyone should have access to opportunities, but I don’t think everyone should have access to the same ones. I don’t mean this in the sense where people should be given opportunities based on income level, gender and so on I mean I think people need to be given opportunities based on their needs. So in a sense I do value equality based on the perspective of the situation.

My personal values mean a lot to me as they are the back bones of all the decisions and action I choose and take. I feel as though my values have fully shaped the way I live my live all the way down to things like, the passions I have and the career choices that spark my interest. I feel that The value of reliabilities is my most important value overall as it has  fully shaped the dynamics I have within my relationships, I feel as this is so because it has made me more of a dependable person you can count on that will always have you back.

After researching the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals I have come to the conclusion that number 11 sustainable cities and communities is the most important goal to me. I feel as though it aligns with my values well because having a well function city that can sustain function for millennia to come gives power to the community to do more, I also feel that having a well function city can help in all areas. The climate crisis and other environmental issues are often thrown under the bus when the word money is thrown into the conversation which brings me to how recognition ties into all this, all environmental issues our important and I feel having the idea of a sustainable city is finally brining important issues into consideration and giving them the recognition they deserve and need. And lastly how these ties In to reliability, this one I feel is the most correlated as a city that is built with sustainability will make the whole world a more reliable place, stronger infostructure, more environmental reliability and it would also be a good sign of a reliable economic state with in the city.

Number 11 is also my passion, and it has been since I can remember. This is my passion for many reasons but mainly because the earth is literally our home, and we are destroying it and never thinking about the future. For my action I have centered it around this goal. For the action I will be teaching kids about how to be environmentally aware and how to treat our planet with respect. I will hopefully attend at least one school during this semester or educate them in a more informal environment.

Anyway thank you so much for reading my post.
