As the semester comes to an end I have finished researching my essential question and have found a broad answer to it through my subcategory research. Reflecting on my experience I will talk about the challenges I overcame, how the inquiry changed my thinking, how it impacted my future decisions, and how it can impact others as well.
1- Challenges I faced and how I overcame them
By researching this question I faced some challenges such as an excess of information on different topics, little knowledge on all car brands, and complex explanations. The excess of information overwhelmed me as I only had three subcategories and there was still so much more I could learn. To overcome this issue I stuck to the biggest and more important topics and searched up general explanations that covered many things. For my little knowledge of car brands, I would simply search up extra subcategories for myself and include them in the blog posts like which car brands or which specific cars demonstrate the specific characteristic that I was looking at. This helped me get a better sense of different types of cars and brands, and what they are known for. While I was doing my research, specifically on the interior of cars (engine) I found many very difficult to understand explanations. To overcome this, I would search up cars for dummies, so that rather than looking at specialized complex explanations, I would get simple and general overviews of what I needed to know.
2- How did this inquiry change the way I think?
This inquiry helped me gain a lot of knowledge on how cars work since initially I would hear people talk about turbo, exhaust, cylinders, and I always felt very lost. I now feel more confident in my knowledge and I can finally understand and appreciate what people say about cars. This ties into my next question.
3- How did this inquiry impact my future decisions?
Now that I am able to see cars from a different perspective, I can now formulate my own opinion for the future on which cars I am looking for. I now know more about car brands and car functions and I can plan my future decisions accordingly. I predict that when the time comes, I will purchase an SUV or a sedan that has a higher number of cylinders and might be a hybrid for fuel efficiency.
4- How can this inquiry impact others?
By reading my inquiry I hope that people can feel motivated to easily learn more about cars and have confidence in their knowledge rather than ignore the topic as a whole which is something I used to do. I hope it can also educate people who feel like learning about cars is too complicated in a simple way. Finally I hope that people reading my blog can become more aware about cars and can create their own opinions on what they like or dislike.
