Blog Post #4-Community Volunteering Update

Hi everyone, as I mentioned I have been dealing with a family emergency that ended up stemming out through the last couple of months here so please bear with me!

Recently I have been working on my action project through my leadership class, which allowed me to attend and volunteer at a local elementary school sports day. I was able to not only plan a station but run it and help students try and complete the challenges. My team and I made a baseball game where the students had various items like tennis rackets, pickle ball rackets and mini hockey sticks to try and hit the ball with. If they were successful, they were allowed to go to the other side and collect birdy before rotating with their teammates to throw the ball to the next player.

A problem we ran into was kids don’t have the best coordination so by the end it was through the ball until they could hit it. Fortunately, all the kids were good sports and made an effort in the game. Aside from one minor injury, our station was very successful. We were able to get photo ops for parents on the sidelines of their kids in action and talk to some of the students, including singing happy birthday to one young girl turning seven.

I expect my next action to be of being a big buddy or a summer fair but I am not quite sure yet.

Thanks for reading!
