Blog post#7 – Effective stress cooping mechanisms for high school students


a. What challenges did you overcome throughout this inquiry project? How did you go about
overcoming these challenges?

Throughout my research project, a significant challenge I faced was when I found that most information focused on cliché and well-known strategies. Determined to uncover unique approaches, I expanded my sources to include books and journals. Additionally, I conducted interviews with individuals who shared alternative coping mechanisms, ensuring I get a diverse perspective. To further enrich my findings, I collected raw data through surveys and focus groups directly from high school students, in which they brought authentic insights into their distinctive ways of managing stress. This multifaceted approach allowed me to overcome the initial barrier and offer a wider exploration of effective stress coping mechanisms beyond the common strategies.


b. How did this inquiry change the way you think?


This inquiry significantly altered the way I think in many ways. Initially, I found myself focused on conventional ideas and widely accepted strategies. However, as I delved deeper into alternative sources, conducted interviews, and collected raw data, I began to appreciate the richness and diversity of individual experiences. While i explored unique coping mechanisms, it not only broadened my perspective but also reinforced the importance of seeking out unconventional approaches when addressing complex issues. I now understand the value of incorporating varied viewpoints and personal narratives to gain a more comprehensive understanding of stress management, particularly in the context of high school students.


c. How did this investigation impact your future decisions?

This research project has significantly influenced my future decisions, particularly in the topic of research and problem-solving. The experience of seeking unconventional stress coping mechanisms for high school students has instilled in me a commitment to thinking beyond the obvious and exploring different point of views and ideas. Moving forward, I plan to incorporate a more inclusive and multidimensional approach to my inquiries, as i recognize the importance of tapping into various sources and collecting raw data to uncover different insights. This mindset shift will not only enhance the depth of my future researches but also inform my decision-making process in addressing complex issues, creativity and adaptability in finding solutions.


d. What impact will this investigation have on others locally and/or globally?

This investigation has the potential to have a positive impact both locally and globally by offering new insights into stress coping mechanisms for high school students. Locally, the findings can inform educational institutions, counselors, and parents about a diverse ways of effective strategies, which would create a more supportive environment for students facing stress. Globally, sharing these insights through other educational platforms could contribute to a broader dialogue on mental health in the context of secondary education. By highlighting unconventional coping mechanisms, the research may inspire the development of innovative programs or interventions, ultimately contributing to the well-being of high school students worldwide. The global community can benefit from a more heightened understanding of stress management, which promotes a holistic approach to mental health that extends beyond “traditional” practices.

Hello Jolie Your research topic on high school kids’ efficient stress coping techniques seems intriguing, and I like your commitment to go beyond the box to find novel solutions. i think that you should’ve maybe cited a few sources in your blog post but overall, your selection of a wide range of sources was apparent from books, to journals, to interviews and unprocessed data, indicates a careful and comprehensive research methodology but just try to link them next time.
