Hello everyone!
My name is Madison Ciulla and currently I am in grade 12 at Dr. Charles Best Secondary. This is my second year in Social Responsibility/Butterfly Effect. I joined in grade 10, and after missing the amazing opportunities I was involved in, I wanted to re-join for my grade 12 year!
Something you may not know about me is that I love playing soccer. In fact, I’ve been playing the sport since I was 4 years old. I honestly do not know what my life would look like today if I wasn’t playing soccer. It has become part my daily routine. Over the years my hard work and practice allowed me to make it onto a high performance team, however, after 2 years on the team, I decided to step down and focus on my school work. Currently I play for a Metro-Select team with Coquitlam Metro Ford.
In my free time, other activities I love to do include skiing, reading, and walking my dog Zoey. I am super excited for the ski season this year and can’t wait to hit the slopes! When I read, I become super attached to the stories and fictional worlds I learn about in many novels, and I tend to become immersed in these worlds! My favourite genres are fantasy and science fiction. Walking my dog has always brought me so much joy. This is the main way I calm myself down when I’m feeling stressed. It is a great way to relieve any anxiousness I am feeling the night before a test or even if I am super busy and need a chance to relax. Plus, I love my dog Zoey dearly, and she is the best little companion.
What brought me to Butterfly Effect was the chance to discover my own passions through the self-directed inquiry projects I was able to do. It was actually through this course that I found my love for science, after I got the chance to learn about the biodiversity of Joshua Tree National Park, and the ways in which we can live a healthy life style.
This year I will be focussing on the new action side of the course, and I am super excited to share my journey in performing this action with all of you! Stay tuned for my action project plan!
Thanks for reading!!
Hey Madison, I really like what you wrote! I share a lot of things like how when you read a book you become immersed in it, I usually like to imagine how it would be if I was in it. Also I think Zoey is EXTREMELY cute just from the photo you posted here! I have 3 dogs and they are some characters! I will definitely stay tuned to see what project you come up with, I’m sure it’ll be amazing!
Mariana.
Hi Mariana! Thanks for your comment! I guess you could say we are both major DOG people! haha!

Walking with your dog and getting relaxed, that sounds so lovely and peaceful. I also agree with that Butterfly Effect is the chance to discover my own passion!
For sure! Butterfly definitely gives us the opportunity to find our real interests we may not be able to discover in our regular courses!
