About Me – Venus Seyedi

Hey everyone! My name is Venus Seyedi and I am currently in the 12th grade. I attend Dr. Charles Best Secondary School, and I am currently enrolled in the french immersion program. This is my second year in Butterfly Effect!

One thing that might surprise others is my history with competitive swimming. I’ve swam competitively for as long as I remember, and just recently quit. I used to practice 8 times a week, twice on Friday’s. It was rough! I swim leisurely now, but not as intense as I used to during my childhood. As soon as I stopped swimming frequently, I began to pick up a couple first aid courses. One thing led to another, and I’m currently a lifeguard. First aid is my passion, because it is something everyone can easily have the knowledge on. It doesn’t hurt to know more information on health and safety, and can help you and others in the long run. I’m interested in pursuing a career in medicine, especially working with children. The thought of helping others is like no other, and I’m glad to have such a huge interest in it.

In my free time, I usually watch the Ellen Show! I look up to Ellen DeGeneres a lot, since she is so caring and kind towards others. She always projects the idea of “paying it forward”, meaning helping others even while you might need the help, too. I started watching the Ellen Show with my mother when I was younger, and never stopped. I also like to listen to music and skate with my friends at the park.

My place is in the community is to contribute positive actions, such as volunteering at schools, or local organizations. It is to learn my values as well as the values of my friends, classroom, family, neighbourhood and the community. Respecting everyone and creating positive relations with others is very important to me.

I’m glad to be back on the page and excited for the rest of the year.
