Blog Post #4 What We Are Doing To Help The Environment

Hello everyone welcome to my blog post #4. I am excited to share some more updates about my action project, even though it’s coming a little later than I planned. We were waiting for confirmation from local elementary schools to schedule our visits, and I am overjoyed to announce that we’ve secured one school where we’ll be teaching kids about the environment and recycling next week!

1. Where are you with your action?

I’ve been busy organizing lesson plans and activities to engage the kids. Our focus is on fun, hands-on ways to teach the importance of recycling and how small changes can make a big difference for the planet, while also addressing the issues that harm the environment. Additionally, I’ve been coordinating with teachers to ensure these lessons fit into their schedules.

2. Some of our successes so far

A major win has been securing a school’s participation! After reaching out to several schools, it’s exciting to have one officially confirm our visit. This step forward is a huge accomplishment. Additionally, I’ve finalized the materials we’ll be using, which include a variety of visual aids to help reinforce key concepts. We’ve also put together a fun recycling sorting game that I’m sure the kids will enjoy—it’s interactive and engaging, making the learning experience both enjoyable and educational.

3. Some challenges and their solutions

One challenge we’ve faced has been the delay in hearing back from schools, which set our timeline back a bit. To address this, I followed up with phone calls and offered flexible scheduling, which ultimately helped us secure a school visit this week. Another challenge is the limited time available for our sessions, so I’ve streamlined the lessons to fit within the given time frame, ensuring they remain impactful and engaging for the students.

4.) Next steps?

Next, I’ll be focusing on delivering the lessons this week and carefully observing how the kids engage with the material. I’ll pay close attention to their reactions and participation to assess the effectiveness of our approach. Following the sessions, I plan to gather feedback from the teachers to gain insights on what worked well and areas where we can improve for future sessions. Additionally, I’ll continue reaching out to other schools to expand the project, aiming to inspire even more students and spread awareness about the importance of recycling and protecting the planet.

Thank you for reading and I hope you follow along with more updates to come on our action project!
