Reflection

Hi, this is my final blog post about my journey working on my inquiry project about how foods affect your body.

What challenges did you overcome throughout this inquiry project? How did you go about overcoming these challenges?
During my inquiry project, my main issue was that there are so many different views of how food affects you body, even from licensed nutritionists/dieticians and doctors. This then required me to fact check from multiple websites to retract small pieces of information instead of looking at a few reliable sources. I overcame these challenges by giving myself enough time, and by sticking to articles that have scientific proof behind what is written, and it is displayed in the article.

How did this inquiry change the way you think?

This inquiry project changed my view a lot on how sugar affects your body, and how it is necessary for your body to survive. It also showed that not eating is never the solution, and it just forces your body to store what food you are eating as fat for later instead of allowing it to be used as energy. It also changed my way to think in the aspect of eating overall healthier, while still not giving up the foods I enjoy eating, because it is all about eating in moderation, and to stop eating when you are full.

How did this investigation impact your future decisions?

This research will impact my future decisions mainly on my mindset of food, and how it is okay to eat some unhealthy foods, and that nothing is truly unhealthy to eat, but the quantity is what impacts it the most. I also impacts on when I eat food, because the first thing your body digests is muscle, and that is very necessary for me to retain as a high performance athlete.

What impact will this investigation have on others locally and/or globally?

This investigation will hopefully help people on realizing that you shouldn’t be scared to eat food, and that cravings for sugary foods are not something that are the worst. Food is a way to relax, to enjoy yourself and there is no reason for you to not experience it. Food is a good way to feel good, and that it is not what you eat, but how much that affects your body the most. When you eat, you are giving your body energy to function, this is necessary for life, and if you don’t give yourself that, your happiness levels can go down and will lead to a unhappier life.

Thank you for everyone whose been following along this amazing journey and I will see you next time!
