Action Blog Post #4 Pt.2

So far with my action project, I have been able to do another park clean-up. I implemented my project last week at a park around Surrey Christian Secondary School. I went out after practice on Tuesday during the evening; however, this time I had to go without my family and teammates. I stayed out for an hour, and my experience was almost the same except for one thing. That one thing was the fact that there was less garbage to collect than Pacific Academy which was a shock to me because this park was larger.

One success I had was dressing accordingly to the weather because it did rain a little; however, I was prepared by bringing a jacket. Last but not least, I was able to make effective use of my time by jogging as I collected trash. This allowed me to fill up my trash bag quicker while getting a small workout in after my practice which was definitely a success.

A challenge I faced was going out after practice because I was very tired. I overcame this by working quickly and listening to music to have the time go by quickly. Furthermore, since my teammates or family members weren’t able to come with me I felt quite lonely walking around by myself. I overcame this by reminding myself that I needed to learn how to be more independent. Moreover, even though there wasn’t a lot of garbage to collect which was a challenge I remembered that this was a positive thing because it shows that the people who walk around Surrey Christian Park are aware that they need to take care of their environment.

Next for my action project, I plan to go to Semiahmoo Park to perform another park clean-up. Hopefully, I am able to bring my teammates with me as well. I plan to stay out for two hours.

1.) This photo connects to my action project because it shows the area where I picked up litter from.

2.) This photo connects to my project because it represents some of the garbage I found.
