Blog Post #3 – Action project – Marisa

hello, welcome back to my action project called blessing bags!

1.) Where are you with your action? (e.g. what involvement have you had so far? Describe with examples)

As of currently with my action project, the process of planning what will go in the bag has finished and all the items were bought . The items the group chose to include in the bag are… a juice box, a bag of chips, a little bible book, 2 granola bars, a tooth brush and mini toothpaste, and a little caramel.

After acquiring all the supplies we took brown little paper bags, created a little assembly line and all the youth assembled them together putting one item of each into each of the bags.

Now the bags are all ready for our day to go to down town Langley and hand them out!!

2.) What are some successes that you have had? Provide specific examples.

The success we have had up to the point of where we are with our outreach project has been very exiting to see. One of the main successes was seeing how engaged the youth was when we were putting together the bags, it was so cool to see the empathetic hearts of all the youth, which is the next generation, to help other people in their communities.

3.) What are some challenges that you have faced? Have you been able to overcome them? If so, how? Provide specific examples. If not, can you problem-solve some ideas that might work for next time or if a similar situation arises? Again, provide specific examples.

Up to this point one of the main challenges we faced was running out of certain items to fill every single bag; therefore, some of the bags may be missing a granola bar, or one of the little bible books. However, to over come this we just organized all the bags and separated the ones into little piles/groups of which has the same amount of stuff for the day we go and hand them out. On the day we hand them out we will use all the full ones first and then move into the ones that may be missing an item or two once we run out of the totally full ones.

4.) What are you doing next and why?

The next part of this project is to take the bags to a park and hand them out in the community to anyone who would like one or need one, while doing so we will also have little tracks which share the message of the gospel we can hand out as well if others would like one. While handing out the bags if someone it interested we will also be sharing the gospel with them, and letting them know God is watching out for them and protecting them.
