Exposition:
- The story is set in a small town
- The protagonist, Aspen, died in 1923 when she was 18
- Aspen is now a ghost decades later, and she longs for a feeling of home and misses her family
- Aspen’s best friend Tara knows her secret
Point of Attack:
- Aspen is on a mission to understand why she is still present in her small town as a ghost
- Aspen’s overall goal is to uncover the mystery behind her continued existence and to finally gain closure
Rising Action:
- Rising Action One: Aspen and Tara search through the school library but find no answers. Aspen struggles with memories of her past and her strange connection to the snow (snow will be a motif in the story that represents secrets)
- Rising Action Two: Aspen’s friends notice her odd behavior and attempt to confront her, leading Aspen to withdraw further into herself. Tara, determined to support Aspen, tries various ways to help her friend, but Aspen continues to resist.
Climax:
- The climax occurs when Aspen discovers her own diary in the town’s archives, which triggers memories of her past life and the events leading up to her death. She remembers her love for a boy (no name yet…) and a tragic accident that led to his death and her own death. (this probably makes no sense but it will in the final version of the story and it will be much more detailed!)
Falling Action:
- Aspen shares her revelation with Tara, who tries to comfort and support her. Aspen struggles with the weight of her past and the knowledge of her own actions.
Resolution:
- Aspen decides to leave her small town and her friends behind, finally understanding what happened to her and she finally knows what she has to do to move on. She writes letters to her friends explaining her decision and leaves to join the rest of the spirits, finding peace and freedom at last.
hello Shaila,
I really enjoyed reading your story project plan, and I really look forward to seeing where this takes you and reading it at the end.
I think stories about mystery and small town ghost stories have a lot of potential of ways you could go with them especially with having a lot descriptive imagery for the reader!
I think if could be cool if you tried to find or even make characters and little setting photos that you could embed in your story to allow the reader to visualize more
Marisa 😊
