a. What challenges did you overcome throughout this inquiry project? How did you go about
overcoming these challenges?
Throughout this project, I had a difficult time finding sources that gave me the information I needed and not different information. To deal with this, I would find bits of information to answer my question in an article, then look through more articles to find more bits of information and compile them together. An example of this was my third subcategory “What are the most useful skills in this age” I struggled to find the right answer as many articles gave skills on employability and success but not useful in general. I ended up going through many articles and compiling what I had found which I in turn compared in my project.
b. How did this inquiry change the way you think?
This inquiry made me change the way I think as I got to learn a lot more about populations that were in need. I usually don’t think so much about the topic, and although I know many people around the world are less fortunate than I am, I did not know the extent of just how many countries face these issues. Learning about all the African countries that are starving or are politically unstable made me open my eyes to the fact that many more people than I originally thought are struggling around the world. The conclusion of this project also made me realize that anyone’s skills can be used to help others no matter how specific they may be. For example if someone is a really good coder, they can teach coding to young kids who don’t get the opportunities to learn these things or they can create a platform to support people in need.
c. How did this investigation impact your future decisions?
In researching and learning what I did, I realized that many more people and countries are in need of help, and this impacted my future decision as I know that this problem is a large-scale problem and that in my future, when I am helping people around the world, I need to focus on these populations as well. In the future whether it be my career or simply just donating money, I will keep what I researched in mind to help those who need it the most. I will also make the best out of my skills no matter how useless they may seem towards helping others.
d. What impact will this investigation have on others locally and/or globally?
Although this was not an action project, this investigation helping in some way to raise awareness to those who read my blog posts on what the size and severity of these issues really is. Along with this, reading my blog post can inform people that the skills they have are adequate to be able to help out no matter what those skills are and I believe that this can help me make an impact in my future.
