ABOUT ME:CECILIA WAMBUI.

My name is Cecilia Wambui, a student from Daraja Academy, which is in Nanyuki, Kenya. I am in grade 10 and I am turning 15 years in November this year. I come from a humble extended family of 13 people and I am the first born in a family of 4 kids. I come from one of the major cultures in Kenya ,which is the Kikuyu. I am a person who loves to socialize with people , make new friends and I have a passion to help anyone who is in my need. During my free time, I love to do research for different things, write different staff and I also love to sing. In my community ,I would love to help stop the misuse of drugs and substances.

When I joined the ninth grade at Daraja, I got to learn about the Butterfly effect and my roommate was in the group .I asked little bits of questions and I fell in love with butterfly effect .After joining the tenth grade, I was selected to join the group .It was a fun moment. The main thing that made me to love the group is that it gives room for one to do research and become more knowledgeable. This year I want to research on politics. One thing that I will do to surprise others is that I will do my research beyond boundaries and when I get enough information , I will help change the political status in my country .

After finishing my high school education, I want to pursue journalism and in future become a news journalist. What made me to love journalism is watching a lot of news and I got to get role models who inspired me .When I joined Daraja , I joined the journalism club, which has helped me grow. I expect that Butterfly effect is going to help me continue excelling in my research about politics………………..THANK YOU.

  1. Hi Cecilia,

Excellent Blog Post! I really enjoyed reading and learning about you. I also discovered heard about butterfly effect when I was in grade 9 and decided to join in grade 10. I am now in grade 11 and attend Dr. Charles Best Secondary school in Bristish Columbia, Canada. The program really is a great way to learn about others and your own passions!

I like how you mentioned the misuse of drugs and subtances and how you would like to try and put a stop to that as it is a relevant topic all across the world and is something many of us can help improve. This also relates to your want to help change the political status of your country since it’s a way it can help improve it along with other countries status. I think it’s great how you want to pursue journalism since you are so passionate about relevant topics related to journalsim, such as politics. I would love to hear more about the steps you are taking to help you pursue your passion of journalism.

Great job! I look forward to reading your future Blog Posts and best of luck.

  2. Hi Cecilia!
I loved reading you blog post, and could 100% picture you to be a great journalist in the future! Your writing is very smooth and flows really well, so much so I was able to speed through the post and even wanted to read more! I like you joined the butterfly effect in my grade 10 year, and now I am currently in my grade 12 year. It has been a great experience, and I am able to research any topic that I am interested in, or that I want to learn more about! This can also help me share the knowledge that I learnt with others doing the same types of projects with me!
I hope you lots of luck on your research about politics!
    Good luck <3

  3. Hi Cecilia!
Thanks for letting me get to know a bit about you! We have some things in common like we both like to socialize and make new friends and discover new passions. I love how ambitious and determined you are to help your community (we need more people like you!). It’s amazing that you already know what you want to do so early on, and journalism is a great choice! I see it in you 100 percent. My mom has a background in Journalism and Literature so yes, it is a very inspiring career. It caught my eye when you mentioned how you want to stop the misuse of drugs and substances. That is so important and insightful of you! I have family that works in mental health and addiction centres so I could make many connections to your blog post. Anyways, I’m so glad you found the Butterfly effect and I hope you continue to create a difference in the people and community around you! Best of luck on your future projects!! <3
