Blog Post #3

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog, today I am going to be updating you on my progress with my action. My action is helping kids in any way through education. Now this is something that I became very interested in, but I had no idea how I would go about it. It took me way too long to figure it out, but I took to google and found that there are organizations that specialize in it. There are two that I found intriguing, Children Believe and Pathways.

Children Believe it is international, they have helped kids in Africa, Asia and the Americas. “We support children, women and men in six countries in 400+ communities through child sponsorship. But it doesn’t end there. We’re also part of a global community of brave young dreamers, caring supporters and partners working together to drive change across countries, continents and social divides.” (1) This is directly off their website. My other option is Pathways. The pathways are local. It is in Surrey and in Vancouver. They work with youths to help them graduate. They provided financial and social support and they also provided tutors. “For youth in low-income communities, Pathways to Education provides the resources and network of support to graduate from high school and build the foundation for a successful future.” (2) this is a quote from their website also found below which would be the second link. Pathways partners with a lot of different governments and organizations around Canada.

Pathways to Education

I have emailed both organizations, for Children Believe I asked what I can do because their office is in Ontario, and it is not like I can get there, so I asked what I can do from here in BC. For Pathways I have asked what I could as a high school student because I can’t tutor but I can take to social media, help research and provided help in different areas that they might need.

My biggest challenge is honestly finding something I can do. There’s not a lot of places that do volunteering and more donations which is fine and appreciated, but I was looking for somewhere I can volunteer and donate.

A success that I need have was pathways did end up emailing back and said that I should contact our location in BC, which will be my next step. From there I will talk with them about what I can do to help them, what can I do as one person to help these worldwide organizations?

  2. Hello Veronica,
What an enticing topic that is extremely relevant to the high school setting! Awareness of organizations that support women, children, and men in a multitude of countries through education is important for everyone who attends school. One point that I found extremely insightful was the your support for the organization Children Believe, engaging with the creator to drive positive change. Additionally, Pathway’s mission to provide social and financial support and tutoring for low income students will go a long way in ensuring education for the long run.
I would love to know what about Pathways and Children Believe stood out to you specifically? How could you potentially balance contributing to both of these organizations effectively? Cool topic, and I can’t wait to see what you cover next post!

  3. Hi Veronica,
I love that you have such a strong passion for helping kids through education and I found your blog post extremely intriguing. It’s so important to support others and help people whenever possible. I find it amazing that Pathways helps children from low-income families graduate and helps them find the resources to make them thrive in their environments. Your idea of bringing this issue to social media is amazing as it could help these organizations receive more donations which would benefit them in the long run. I was also wondering what drove you to choose Pathways and Children Believe as your main organizations? How will these organizations help you accomplish your main goal? I can’t wait to read more about this in your future posts!
