Blog Post #1 How does the acquisition and dissemination of knowledge shape human societies and contribute to progress?

Hello everyone,

My inquiry question for this semester would be “How does the acquisition and dissemination of knowledge shape human societies and contribute to progress?” This question has interested me because I’ve recently started reading a lot more paper books than I did before, and it has struck me that I am gaining exponentially larger quantities of knowledge than I did before– reading and learning digitally. The words inside the books are the same, but if I were to read them in a book, it seems to be more useful for me. I want to find out how human societies and civilizational progress are made through the acquisition and dissemination of knowledge, both digitally and traditionally through books and common tales.

  1. Hi Scott,

Excellent Blog Post! Your inquiry question really stuck out to me as it relates to topics I am learning about in my English class and I wish to learn more about. I wonder how this impacts overall global progress as opose to indiviual progress and the gain of knowledge since I believe that once one person is impacted, it can change the result of a whole community.

I like how you made a personal connection as to how you got to your inquiry question when you stated how you have started reading more paper books.

A few sources that my help with your future research are:

  2. Hi Scott!
This was a really cool post to read because I too have wondered the same thing at times. It’s so interesting how with everything we learn and read we gain new information, but for me I’ve wondered about how that information stays in your mind, such as why the topic may stay in your mind to make you more knowledgeable or why it may not causing you to have to relearn/reread the subject to understand in order to gain that extra knowledge.

If you wanted to go more into the facts about this question I found a link that can help with how the brain can understand and process information. I also found a link that explains why some may learn faster than others.
