My 3 most important values are risk, reliability, and equality.
My 3 least important values are tradition, leadership, and power.
I somewhat agree with my results. I believe all of my important values were correct. This is because I believe it is crucial to take risks to become a better version of yourself. Also, it is important to be reliable because everyone needs a helping hand at some point. Nevertheless, equality is also significant to me because everyone should be treated the same regardless of their origin. Only one value from my least important ones was incorrect. It was leadership because I believe that our world needs leaders to inspire and guide others to help communities succeed. I thought the statements were good generally, but I felt like some of them were too similar, which could contradict people’s perceptions. For example, I believe that family, friendship, and community should not be separated because they all emphasize the importance of human ties. A value that could be included in the future is loyalty even though it is similar to reliability. This is because reliability refers to being dependable and trustworthy while loyalty means being faithful and committed. To me, risk means being able to get out of your comfort zone to try new things. Reliability means to me being there for your loved ones in times of need. Furthermore, equality means to me that no one is discriminated against.
I put the value of equality into action every day by making sure I never judge anyone without knowing their story. The result of this is having more people feel comfortable around me. Also, I make sure to take risks whenever I can because I don’t want to regret not doing so in the future. The result of doing this is making many special memories I can look back on. Additionally, I make sure to always be there for my friends so they always have someone to rely on for help. The result of being reliable is having people there for me too when I need it.
Value: Reliability
Future Situation: My friend needs help studying for a test
Action: Helping them study and aiding them in creating practice questions
Value: Equality
Future Situation: During a basketball game if a player is not being passed the ball
Action: Passing them the ball because we all deserve to be treated the same
After analyzing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, I feel like the “life on land” goal aligns with my most important values. This is because animals should be treated equally, we need to take care of nature as much as we rely on it, and we shouldn’t take the risk of hurting our planet. This goal is my passion because I want to take care of my habitat more after noticing how much we take the outdoors for granted. One action project I would like to implement this semester is doing nature clean-ups. This can include picking up litter from around oceans and parks.
Hi Mahdiya,
I really enjoyed reading your Blog Post. It caught my eye as you’re doing an Action Project, which I think is a great way to give back to your community.
I think it’s great how you constantly apply your values in your day-to-day life as that can both teach you and others about yourself. I also like your examples of possible situations and where you can apply your important values. I can’t wait to see how your nature clean-ups relate to your values and where it ends up taking you!
Best of luck,
Perla
