Blog post #7-how prejudice and biased information are created

What challenges did you overcome throughout this inquiry project? How did you go about overcoming these challenges?

Firstly, I had some trouble finding accurate websites for my sources. I overcame this challenge by using school-based resources like EBSCO host. After, I studied the accurate website document to find tips for finding accurate websites. For example, I found websites ending in “edu” to be accurate.  Furthermore, I faced some challenges with my research because some websites were accurate but biased. I overcame this challenge by looking at a wide range of websites so that my project will not be biased.

How did this inquiry change the way you think?

This inquiry changes the way I think because I understand on a deeper level how harmful biased and prejudiced opinions are. For example, I learned that prejudiced opinions might lead to unfair murder and treatment. This inquiry project will have a life-long effect on how I think because I am more conscious of the results.

How did this investigation impact your future decisions?

This investigation impacts my future decisions because I will be more conscious of my thoughts. I will always think about how my prejudiced opinions may negatively affect others. I will be fairer and try to voice my opinions to stop prejudiced opinions from spreading. In addition, I will be more understanding and try to advocate for others who have experienced traumatic results from biased and prejudiced opinions. I will do this by sharing information about prejudiced and biased opinions and educating myself more on this subject.

What impact will this investigation have on others locally and/or globally?

This investigation will positively help others feel included and safe. This investigation of how prejudiced and biased information is created will help everyone feel equal. This will reduce unfair global discrimination for gender, race, or age because others will feel more conscious of the results. I hope everyone will benefit from my research!
