Blog Post #7: Reflection

a. What challenges did you overcome throughout this story project? How did you go about overcoming these challenges?

  • I originally wanted to go with something more abstract and fictional but decided instead to retell the interesting experiences of someone in real life. It was kind of a struggle to get them to remember the details, and we had multiple sessions where we would sit down and talk through, I grilled her quite a few times.
  • It was also kind of disappointing to not get a single comment, despite how Ms. Martin organized the comment sessions so that everyone could get some if the comments were evenly spread. There weren’t any examples either, since the person before me tagged her inquiry posts under story.

b. How did writing and researching this story change the way you think?

  • I never realized there were so many reasons for how things turned out like they did in the story, it was really interesting searching up the intricate details and how they played a role in the story, like how the mechanics of locks depend on the ridges of the matching key to open, and that was why Miri’s pencil-clip idea didn’t work.

c. What impact will this story have on others locally and/or globally?

  • This story will bring entertainment to others, should they choose to read it, and perhaps provide some insight on the duality of carelessness and innovation, and how problems can be caused and solved by the same person.
