What challenges did you overcome throughout this inquiry project? How did you go about overcoming these challenges?
A challenge that I had throughout this inquiry project was that I kept on repeating certain words or phrases inside of my posts. After reading and rereading my articles, I realized how dull and tedious these repeated sentences made my writing sound. The posts also didn’t sound very smooth when read aloud and strange pauses kept appearing throughout. I overcame this challenge by adding transition words, especially in places where the rhythm stopped unanticipatedly and searching up synonyms to include an assortment of exquisite, captivating expressions.
How did this inquiry change the way you think?
After compiling the research for this inquiry project, I was informed that plants from different places have distinct attributes and grow specific skills to survive in their particular habitats. For example, desert plants would grow roots that can absorb water as quickly as possible, and forest plants would grow roots that only absorb a bit of water when provided with a lot. I feel that looking at different species of plants living in specific habitats makes learning more accessible, for humans as a whole. This can educate us on the variety of ways nature follows its course, whether from Niagara Falls to an office in a suburban city. Following, my thinking was also changed when I learned that if forestry and desert plants switched habitats, they would most likely be unable to survive such conditions and would come to die. This surprised me the most, as I thought that the plants would acknowledge the differences and would be able to adapt to the peculiar environment within a couple of days.
How did this investigation impact your future decisions?
I believe that this investigation impacted my future decisions by changing my perspective on the natural world around us. After learning that forestry plants require frequent watering and desert plants require very little, I learned that sometimes things have to adapt to the subject’s liking. As a result, if I do decide to plant some vegetation in the further future, I may compare how much water they need to take in daily, and decide on one over another with ease through this form of comparison.
What impact will this investigation have on others locally and/or globally?
I hope that this project will impact others locally and globally in a positive way, where they can learn the way different plants from divergent habitats grow. I feel as though nature provides us with many lessons that the world offers to teach us. Through learning different things about nature, including how nature behaves and acts, I further believe that if we learn how every being cannot be completely alike to one another, we will be able to accept our differences as a community.
