Law is a big part of modern society and helps maintain the order of our community. Laws were meant to protect and improves our lives, and most of the case they are. Unfortunately, there might be holes when they are made. For my inquiry question this semester, I have chosen to look into some laws that has holes and laws that cannot protect us.
The first law I would like to look into is the recent used emergency act. Although the act is essential for the emergency circumstances, but it can also cause problems if it is not probably used. Furthermore, I would like to compare the act with similar act around the world and discuss their pros and cons.

The second law I would like to look into is honor killing. Although honor killing does not happen often in Canada; however, they are widely reported in the Middle East and South Asia, but they occur in countries as varied as Brazil, Iran, Israel, Italy, Egypt, Sweden, Syria, Uganda, United Kingdom, the United States, and other countries. In this case, I will focus on Pakistan, since about one-fifth of the world’s honor killings are committed in Pakistan, which has most cases among all countries. I will also talk about the case that got my attention, which is also the reason I would love to talk about this terrible law.

Lastly, I chose to talk about a law that is related to myself, a gruesome law in Hong Kong, where I was born. It is the National Security law. This a very common law in America and Europe, but the content of Hong Kong’s National Security law makes the world worrying. Furthermore, how this controversial law leads to altercation.
