1.) Provide a summary of the action you are planning and how are you going to start.

This semester, I joined a group that worked together last year to do ocean cleanups around our community. I thought it was a very cool way to use our class time well to make a positive impact. I am looking forward to doing my part in helping the community and working together with my group to do so. We have partially made the plan to meet up on Mondays after school but it has not been fully confirmed

2.) One lesson in the talk is that ‘Everything is complicated’. Can you explain some of the complexity that you will face in your action?

As individuals, we learn that we have to work for what we want and the harder we work the more we tend to improve ourselves. There are always obstacles that will try to disrupt the original plan. I am aware that when my group joins together to do our cleanup there might be some bumps in the road. Some issues that could surface could surround our location. We might have a hard time choosing where to go and how we would all get there.

3.) Is this action sustainable? Provide some specific examples to support your reasoning.

Yes, my action is sustainable. There is so much space to help clean up everywhere, which creates an activity that can be done as frequently as preferred. Another positive is that having the action of ocean cleanups falls under my topic climate change. Ocean cleanups help to clear beaches of plastic and other harmful garbage. When beaches are cleaned it provides a positive and safer environment for SeaLife living within that area. Another reason ocean cleanups are so sustainable is because of how much pollution goes on in the world daily. Did you know that 9 billion tons of litter end up in the ocean every year? When I read this, I was very concerned by the amount of pollution going on so I am happy that soon I will be doing my share by working with my group to give back to the community.

4.) Is this action providing opportunity? How will you ensure you are making the positive impact that you intend?

Yes, my action does provide opportunity. As I said in my last answer, there is so much pollution that it needs to be cleaned up, which gives my group lots of variety of places we could go to help. To ensure that my group has a positive impact we will be meeting biweekly on Mondays after school to do our ocean cleanups. We are planning on traveling to different locations as well. Finally, I will verify with my group before Monday if we have all the necessary supplies for the cleanups. For example, garbage bags and gloves.
