1.) What challenges did you overcome throughout this inquiry project? How did you go about overcoming these challenges?

My partner and I overcame a number of challenges during our action project. One of the obstacles was actually getting downtown to aid those who were homeless since both of us, as well as our mentor, had hectic schedules. We surmounted this obstacle by modifying our schedules and staying in constant communication. Another challenge was identifying the appropriate people to approach in order to distribute the candy bags, as many people did not want to be bothered and the environment was not always safe. We were able to overcome this issue by being aware of our surroundings and understanding the body language that was displayed.

2.) How did this inquiry change the way you think?

In many ways, this action changed the way I thought. It taught me not to judge a book by its cover because you can’t fully know someone until you engage with them. I also understood that I should always be appreciative of what I have because my bad days could be someone else’s good days. People nowadays are so preoccupied with their lives that they forget to be grateful for all the blessings they have.

3.) How did this investigation impact your future decisions?

For the future, I’ve learnt a lot from Kristi that I’ll be able to implement on our upcoming trips downtown. One of them is that those who are homeless don’t always need jackets because they already have so many thanks to coat drives. Instead, they require underwear, socks, and a supply of fresh water, as one of the ladies downtown informed us. Candy packs are also a terrific idea because they enjoy sweet treats. Also, whenever you learn about a less fortunate person’s experience, try to be patient and mindful because it can be difficult for them to recall and connect the dots.

4.) What impact will this investigation have on others locally and/or globally?

People will be more aware of the condition of homelessness as a result of reading mine and my partner’s blog articles, because they will understand how they may help in a more effective way. Another beneficial effect is that we are sharing the stories of those who have experienced homelessness. Since they want their voices to be heard and deserve to be acknowledged.
