Hi, my name’s Aleah and I’m a junior at Dr. Charles Best Secondary School. My favourite subject at school is French-Language Film and Literature Studies.
I love to read, especially classical literature and fantasy books. My favourite book is called ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray’ by Oscar Wilde. It deals mainly with the idea that beautiful people are moral and ugly people are immoral. It centres around a man named Dorian Gray who is introduced to Henry Wotton, someone who spouts many theories. He introduces one of his many ideas to Dorian that youth is ever fading and is synonymous with beauty. While having his portrait done, Dorian then wishes that this portrait would consume all of his old age and ugliness to be placed into. This wish of his comes true and the story continues on telling the journey of him and the ugliness of superficiality to come. This book is truly one of a kind and I recommend it to anyone who has not read it.
In my free time, I like to listen to music and watch Netflix. Some of my favourite musicians are Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar and Tyler the Creator. My favourite genre of music is R&B, hip-hop and jazz pop. I especially love jazz, I listen to it when I need to get into a good mood before school. I really like how it can be very relaxing but also very groovy.
