Hello guys,
My name is James Muraguri. I am 21 years old and currently awaiting graduation from Kenyatta University with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy and Administration. Despite my career field, I have always been deeply fascinated by science, especially Astronomy and Cosmology. For the longest time, I wanted to be the first Kenyan astronaut in space! However, switching from a focus on science to public policy, governance, and administration has refreshed my perspective on the social problems within my community. My focus right now is on promoting social justice in Kenya, especially through equality of opportunity for all individuals, irrespective of their sex and cultural background. Most of my time is spent planning civic education events. These events focus on teaching people, especially the youth, their role in creating a better society through enhancing their political participation (voting and all).
I remember joining PA-MOJA back in 2013 as part of the pilot group. Over the years, the organization has gifted me many unforgettable experiences. For instance, my first experience on the internet was courtesy of PA-MOJA (I still remember searching for specific keys on the keyboard). Also, I had the chance to visit Canada for six months back in 2016. Check out my experiences on my blog. Indeed, PA-MOJA has contributed significantly to who I am today. In true PA-MOJA spirit, my focus today is on giving back to my community, providing such opportunities to others who are not so fortunate.
Being on this site with the next generation of thinkers and innovators means a lot to me. I am ready and willing to support each one of you with any problems that you may have. So PLEASE, do not hesitate to ask any question, no matter the field.

So nice to meet you! Good points made in terms of how a person develops their ideologies in life; it is a really nice way to intro your biography! I personally enjoyed reading these phrases where you would discuss how different programs and events really shape a population: “these events focus on teaching people, especially the youth, their role in creating a better society through enhancing their political participation.” I feel like it is all taught to them but later on in life, as they grow up, they start having their own beliefs and thoughts too.
I have two quick questions about your experiences and interests:
1. What prompted or sparked your interest towards aerospace? Did you always have an interest for it when you were young, or did you discover it on later in life? Your goal to be the first Kenyan astronaut in space is so incredible too!
2. Congratulations on your accomplishments thus far attending Kenyatta University for a Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy and Administration! How has your Bachelor / post-secondary education shaped you to who you are today? Did it make you realize you want to be more involved in science, Astronomy, and Cosmology?

Hey James, I really enjoyed reading your post; your ideas were super cool! You seem like a fantastic person and your focuses of bettering social justice and equality for all genders, nationalities, sexualities, etc., is fantastic. I also find your choice of career field really interesting; we really do need more people with big, important messages in public office. I have a few questions for you:
1. Do you plan on returning to Canada sometime in the future?
2. What do you think most needs to change in the Kenyan/Canadian government(s)?
3. Do you plan on eventually running for any sort of public office?
