Hello,
This is my first year as part of social responsibility but, I’ve really enjoyed the environment and the concept of independent projects. It is also a class that can work fairly well with online school which I’m very happy about because it’s less stressful than other classes. Here’s a reflection of my project from the second term.
- What challenges did you overcome throughout this inquiry project? How did you go about overcoming these challenges?
The biggest challenge I had during this project was not having the motivation to post my research rounds. I had four academic classes this semester and was barely paying attention to this course. A couple weeks ago, I caught up with my research rounds, but they weren’t very thought out are were mostly done just to get it over with. I could say that I overcame my challenges by simply sitting down and forcing myself to do it but I think I could have done a much better job if I was more committed and invested in the class.
- How did this inquiry change the way you think?
I wouldn’t say it changed the way I think in relation to my conclusion of my inquiry topic. I realized through this project that I don’t like to step out of my comfort or do things I don’t know a lot about. All the sources and the information I wrote in my research rounds were things I already knew. I asked the question of whether there was substantial evidence of aliens on earth, but I came into the project having an answer in mind. Since starting this project, I’ve been pushing myself to experiment more and not be afraid of not having an answer.
- How did this investigation impact your future decisions?
As I mentioned before, I will experiment more with the unknown but in correlation with my topic, I will no longer have conversations with people about aliens who don’t necessarily believe in them. The information I found was overwhelming and at times, scary to think about. My conclusion to this question goes against what we’ve been taught, and I don’t think it’s my place to introduce these ideas to other people. It gives a sense of discomfort. If someone is curious about aliens and the unknown, I’d be happy to share information, but I don’t think it’s appropriate to bring up in conversations.
4. What impact will this investigation have on others locally/globally?
In my opinion, the bigger idea of this investigation has a larger impact on others. The concept that we don’t know everything is one that is humbling but this can only affect those that emotionally invest in it and reflect on it. Obviously, aliens existing would change our society and everything we know. What I hope others learn from my investigation is that sometimes it’s better not to know everything. Information is scary and overwhelming.
Thank you for reading this far. I miss you all and hope to see most of you again.
