Self-Reflection #2

Hey guys! I hope all of you are still doing now that we are a good few weeks into this strange time and I hope that at least some of you can gain some ideas of positive activities to do after reading my self-reflection!

1. What is something you did for your body?

While most of the things I am now doing for my body are the same as the ones as before, some have changed. Due to the unpredictable weather, at least around my neighborhood, I haven’t been able to take that many walks outside as I used to. The less than stellar weather has also limited my ability to play badminton with my parents, which was something I really cherished. To make up for that lack of outdoors physical activity however, I have been taking part in indoors physical activity! Like before, I am trying my absolute best to move around, stretch and definitely not sit down while playing video games or watching TV. On top of that, I have been regularly using the elliptical machine in my house for thirty to sixty minute sessions, which lets me put in a good sweat even when I am not able to go outside.

2. What is something you did for your mind?

Since I posted my first self-reflection, I have been continually trying a couple of things to maintain my mental state and overall mental health. Something I really enjoyed doing that let me calm my mind down and helped me center myself was taking walks outside, but like I said in the body section, the weather hasn’t been too kind, so I’ve been forced to do other things to keep my mind healthy. I am still playing puzzle and problem solving games, such as crossword puzzles and other word games, scrabble and math games on my phone and my laptop, as that has continued to give my mind a way to exercise when I’m not doing homework. Something else I’ve been doing for my mind has been learning new things other than from school. Doing this has actually proven to be quite simple, yet fun, interesting, educational and good for my mind. To do this, I have been using Wikipedia. On the the online encyclopedia’s main page, there are two sections called From today’s featured article and Did you know… These two sections include very interesting information about virtually anything and is changed daily so that you can learn something new every single day!

3. What is something you did for your happiness?

For my happiness, I’ve been mainly doing the same things since my first self-reflection. I have continued playing video games and I’ve even revisited some old ones that I haven’t played in a while which made me fall in love with them all over again! These include Assassin’s Creed Origins and The Witcher 3, one of the best Role Playing Games of all time! Of course, I have still been spending lots of time with my cat and I still very much cherish all of the the time that I spend with him. I can imagine that it has been decently strange having me home so much of the time, when in the past I was at school for most of the day. I have also been reading quite a lot recently. I am currently reading A Song of Ice and Fire, which are the books on which my favorite TV show of all time is based on; Game of Thrones! George R. R. Martin’s books are infamously long however, so I expect I will still be reading the first book up until mid-May!

4. What is something you did for someone else?

Like I mentioned in my first self-reflection, I continue to a variety of card games with my parents, as that makes them very happy; UNO, blackjack, poker, solitaire, you name it! On top of that, I also play many video games with my parents, normally Mario Kart, and that makes them very happy as well, especially when they win. Unfortunately, I have had to stop playing badminton with my parents due to the fact that it seems like every time we go outside to play, it starts raining. Something else I have been able to do however, is cook! While, if I’m honest, I’m quite a bad cook, my parents still seem to really enjoy when I cook them anything, be it a melted cheese sandwich, a pizza or some pasta. Some of my dishes are better, some are worse, and some are downright terrible, but to be honest, it’s really just trial and error. It might come out burnt, mushy, soggy, stale or even sometimes nearly raw! Even though I might not have a future as a chef, my cooking sure does make my parents happy!
