Hello everybody! I hope you’re all healthy and having a great week. Because of the changing circumstances, I need to modify my action a bit so this is how I am planning to do so!
In my original action plan, I decided I wanted to make bags that were reusable, recyclable and compostable then give those bags to a local store that was currently using plastic bags. I had decided to donate the bags that I would make to the local Coquitlam thrift store, Crossroads Hospice thrift store.
Because the thrift store is closed, I won’t be able to donate the bags as quickly as I would have liked to but I will continue to make them throughout at home and donate them as soon as I can. In addition to my action posts, I will be talking and researching a little more about how my action will help the environment. Some of the questions I am planning on asking are… What are the short term effects that plastic bags have on the environment? What are the long term effects that plastic bags have on the environment? What are the pros and cons of plastic vs. paper bags? and hopefully some more questions.
Next post, I will be updating on my action project and starting to answer some of the inquiry questions. Thank you for reading and stay healthy!

I’m glad to see you’re incorporating your action project with an inquiry question during this unfortunate time. Thankfully, with people staying home due to COVID-19 the amount of carbon dioxide from cars has decreased which has allowed the earth to heal and much more which can be found in this video https://globalnews.ca/video/6856189/earth-day-at-50-the-environmental-impact-of-covid-19. However, while trying to reduce physical contact and maintain social distancing, stores are now giving away free plastic bags for items. For example, grocery stores like Save On Foods and Superstore have many customers purchasing their essential items and are in need of plastic bags. How will this impact on the environment? How many plastic bags are being used now compared to before the pandemic? Anyways I look forward to your upcoming research rounds/ action posts. Here are some links on plastic bags!

This is such a cool project! I love how you saw a problem and came up with a creative way to help solve it. I’m super curious as to how you are making the bags, and I think it would be a good thing to add to your next post.
I think your three research questions are great, and I think this website is a good place to start because it breaks down different factors in the plastic vs reusable bag debate. However, it doesn’t site it’s sources, so it may be best to verify the information with another more reliable website.
