Digital photography

Hello everyone, just proceeding with my research and here i came with another  interesting topic about digital photography.

                     Digital photography.

Digital photography uses cameras containing arrays of electronic photo detectors to capture images focused by a lens as opposed to an exposure on photographic film. The captured images are digitised and stored as a computer file ready for further digital processing, viewing, electronic publishing, or digital printing.

Until the advent of such technology, photographs were made by exposing light sensitive photographic film and paper, which was produced in liquid crystals to develop and stabilise the image.Digital photographs are typically created solely by computer-based photoelectric and mechanical techniques, without wet bath chemical processing.

The first consumer digital cameras were marketed in the late 1990. Professionals gravitated to digital slowly, and were won over when their professional work required using digital files to fulfil the demands of employers and/or clients, for faster turn-around than conventional methods would allow. Starting around 2000, digital cameras were incorporated in cell phones and in the following years, cell phone cameras became widespread, particularly due to their connectivity to social media websites and email.

Since 2010, the digital point-and-shoot and DSLR formats have also seen competition from the mirror less digital camera format, which typically provides better image quality than the point-and-shoot or cell phone formats but comes in a smaller size and shape than the typical DSLR. Many mirror less cameras accept interchangeable lenses and have advanced features through an electronic viewfinder, which replaces the through-the-lens finder image of the SLR format.

  3. Hi Wallace,

I loved your post, as it was unique and very informative. You formatted your research wonderfully and I clearly was able to understand what you were talking about. I also loved your addition of pictures to your post which fits nicely since you are discussing photography!!

I was quite shocked when I read the part of your post that mentioned that it was only in 1990 when digital cameras first hit the market. That was only 30 years ago! Crazy!

You also mentioned in your research that it was only in 2000 when digital cameras were implemented into cell phones. Considering where we are today with the high quality cameras found in the newest iPhones and Samsungs it’s amazing to see the development this product has had. I was particularly intrigued when you said cell phone cameras have become widespread through the use of social media and the internet.
Considering this, maybe in your next post or sometime during your research you could take a closer look at seeing the impact digital photography from phones has had in the media. Pictures and videos have become a huge part of the internet, and social media, and news. They help inform people and give people visuals of events happening all over the world. I wonder how photo and video have positively/negatively impacted society in this way, and if you are interested maybe you could uncover this!!
