I switched to an inquiry project because the action project wasn’t really working and it was going to mess with my schedule a lot, so this is my plan not my first round of research.
My inquiry question is “What do we need to survive and sustain ourselves on Mars?”. The reason that I have chosen this question is because I love space and I think that being able to inhabit mars would be really cool. I am going to split this up into 3 different chunks. The first one is what do we need to bring with us and how do we need to set up. The second one is how can we get ourselves the things we need to survive (i.e. food water etc.) quickly so we can stay alive. Finally, the third chunk is what do we need to do in the long term to be able to stay on mars. If we decide to colonies mars, we need to be able to get the resources we need to survive there, it’s a long way to go from earth to mars so constant transport of good isn’t really an option for a long term stay. Of coarse, food and water are going to be a big challenge because although we know that there is water on mars it is toxic and so is the ground making food a big problem as well.

Going to mars will affect my community because it will not only be an amazing scientific advancement, but it will also give us a second option. I don’t want to leave earth and I hope that global warming can be slowed down, but if we can go to mars at least there is another option as a last resort. Also, who knows what things we may find on mars, there’s so many possibilities. We could find something to cure cancer, or something that could be used a cleaner energy source then something we already have. We don’t know what is there and we may find nothing interesting, but there’s only one way to find out.

I’m sorry to hear your action project didn’t work out, but your inquiry question seems very intriguing! In the past, life on Mars was almost seen as a joke since we couldn’t fathom any possible way to sustain life on a planet besides Earth. However, with recent developments in research and technology, it doesn’t seem to be incredibly out of reach after all.

Hi Mathew! I think you have chosen a really interesting topic. I to love space and I think this is definitely a question that could impact us in the future. The layout is nice and organized in your post. Maybe you could also ask or do some research into what mars is made of and the different elements in its atmosphere and how that would effect our bodies. you could also look into why scientists have only really considered mars as another habitable planet. What makes mars our destination for continued life? why not another planet? I can’t wait to see your next post!

Anyway, the idea of people living on mars is honestly really cool to me because it means we are that far advanced in technology that it’s possible to do so. This topic is interesting, I’ve heard of it being mentioned briefly during a few science classes. From what I’ve heard, it appears possible, and Mars is seemingly really close to being like Earth. Perhaps look into how the astronomers have planned it out so far, as to how to get there. Maybe they’ll need a specific spaceship in order to transport items/people first?
