My question is: What will the next art movement be?
This question is of interest to me because to find the next movement you need to know what factors affect popular art. I thought that it would be interesting to look back throughout art movements to see the different environmental changes, how people collectively thought, and how art affected people so that I could predict the next one. This question is interesting because there are many factors to why art changes as time passes. To answer this question, you would have to look into what people were thinking or craving, what was available to them (ex. A camera wasn’t available in the beginning of art, so we got realism). You also need to think about what situational things made those people think/want that art. (Was it their government? Was it their difficulties?)
My three steps of research will be:
- What has affected movements in the past? (Environmental/Situational factors). What were they thinking/wanting?) ex. The camera was invented.
- What information could help find where the next art movement will start?
- Are there pieces that match up with the struggles/tech/past movements? Based on the information gathered (struggles, new technology, and past movements) what/ where will the next art movement be?
This information will help me answer my question because I can gather information about how old movements formed to see if that may be the case for us today. Then I can get information about struggles and new technology which I can use to zero in on where the movement will be. Finally, I can use all the information to make my final decision by judging it on its ability to spread to different artists, its artistical restriction, and its material accessibility.

This question will have implications to other individuals/ my community because it can give artists a heads up to where art is going so they can prepare themselves. It could also educate people about how the world and society affect art. It could show them that art is deeper than it seems.
Hey Shieva!
I really enjoyed reading about your views on this topic! Very interesting!
Art can be interpreted in so many different ways, and a big factor of them could be based upon living conditions, environment, laws/government, global issues, technology, time era etc.! I’m really looking forward to seeing what you can find in relation to this topic and what new discoveries you can map out for the future development of art. You have structured your steps very well and understand what you are looking for, which is great!
To add to your research, you may also want to map out the different kinds of art changes depending on what part of the world the artist is living in, and what were the emotional factors in that area at the time. Art types may differ depending on what part of the world the artist is in and the environmental and social situations in that area. Your project is very intriguing and I’m looking forward to future posts to see what you will find out!
