Sienna Saunders
Butterfly Effect 12
About Me
My name is Sienna Saunders, I am 16 years old and live in Port Moody, British Colombia. I attend Charles Best Secondary because I am in the French Emersion program and I am able to participate in my favourite subjects such as English, History and Social Justice. I am half Filipino on my mothers side and European (Swedish, Scottish, English and Ukrainian) on my fathers side. I live with my father and grandparents and love having such an amazing relationship with my grandparents.
I am a very passionate person and have spent over 10 years participating in dance, singing, acting and musical theatre. I have always loved art and spend some of my free time drawing and painting as well as enjoying creative writing and reading. I would like to travel in my future to places in Europe like Germany, Poland, Italy, Greece, Czechoslovakia and France. I love history and find WW2 very intriguing and want to visit places like Auschwitz, the Church of Ss. Cyril and Methodus and Oskar Schindler’s Enamel Factory.
I hope to someday acquire a degree in Philosophy. Philosophy is the study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, and existence. I have always been a curious person, that has many questions a bout the world and I hope learning about these things will create a better understanding of the world and who we are as people. After obtaining my degree I would like to achieve a career in law, hopefully going to law school and studying in criminal defense. I began Butterfly Affect in grade 10, I had heard about it in grade 9 from Mrs. Martin. I started because I loved Inquiry Projects, I am able to study what I am interested in and can broaden my knowledge in areas that I care about. I can help myself and others in the community learn about important things that people need to recognize.
We are all connected in our communities and global communities. In our communities we face more specific problems that seem easier to change because you can target a smaller group of people. In order to make change in your global community it takes a lot of determination. I believe that I am a very determined person and I can set myself goals that are difficult but attainable. I can use my determination to help the community and global community with problems such as things that I am deeply concerned about. I believe that poverty is a huge issue in our local community and I think that there is a lot that can be done to make the lives of the people who are struggling better. This year I plan on using this interest in the ACTION prong of butterfly effect by participating in clubs, foundations and volunteering on a regular basis. I hope that I can make a difference in my local and global community and can encourage others to do the same.
